The Šilalė District Municipal Public Library organises educational excursions called 'Mysteries of the House of Books'.
During the tour, participants learn about the history of the library, which is one of the oldest institutions in Šilalė. It has been operating since 1937. It is therefore fascinating to learn how it evolved from a small library with just 39 readers to a vibrant hub with thousands of readers and an extensive collection of publications.
The modern, four-storey library hosts events, training sessions and exhibitions and is equipped with the latest IT technology, from Lego construction sets to 3D printers. Not to mention the 3-metre-high tower of books, as well as various other spaces, including an internet reading room, an interactive youth space with a small 3D cinema, a puzzle room and a toy library. Visitors can also stroll among the shelves, which are filled with thousands of books. When you come here, you will discover many secrets relating to science, knowledge, and innovation.
